The speaker will be talking about Pakistan’s foreign policy shift from geo-politics to a geo-economic approach. How this shift can be seen as an attempt at redefining Pakistan’s worldview and its role in the international community. They will be discussing the focus of Pakistan’s foreign policy on reviving its economic drive and moving away from an Indian-centric approach. They would also talk about the growing superpower rivalry between the US and China and how it has placed Pakistan in a very difficult position. Lastly, the speaker will finish the lecture with discussing Pakistan’s entanglement in a global competition once again and the potential way forward for Pakistan.

About the speaker
Dr. Huma Baqai is an Associate Professor of Social Sciences & Liberal Arts, and former Associate Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, IBA Karachi. Her teaching and research experience spans over a period of 25 years. She is also a scholar, reviewer, author, and co-editor of two books known as Pakistan-Afghanistan Relations: Pitfalls and Way Forward and Making Sense of Post COVID-19 Politics. She is an author of twenty-nine national and international research articles published in renowned journals. She has been working with both national and international media as an international relations expert and political analyst since 1999. She has served both as an analyst and an anchor person in PTV for ten plus years, followed by Chanel 24 and News One. Dr Huma is also associated with Radio Pakistan and Voice of America as a Foreign Policy and International Relations analyst. Dr. Huma Baqai is also content developer, organizer and a certified Corporate Trainer on Liberalism and Politics. She is a certified Corporate Trainer and has been conducting trainings and Presentations on Communication and Negotiation Skills at Center for Executive Education, IBA Karachi since 2008. She had her training from different institutions such as Bentley University, Gummers Bach Institute of Leadership, Germany, Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Islamabad, International Labor Organization, Turin, Italy, Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance, National Business Education Accreditation Council, Narejo Human Resources Pvt.
