Brief Profile of Dr. Huma Baqai
Prof. Dr. Huma Baqai is the Rector of the Millennium Institute of Technology and Entrepreneurship (MiTE) in Karachi and a respected academic with more than 28 years of experience in teaching, research, and public engagement. She is known for her clear understanding of global and regional politics and her ability to explain complex international issues in simple, meaningful ways. Before joining MiTE, she served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi.
Dr. Baqai has taught in higher education for over 25 years, specializing in international relations, foreign policy, South Asian politics, political systems and regimes, conflict studies, and conflict resolution. She is recognized for her engaging teaching style, real-world insights, and dedication to helping students develop strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
She is the author of three books: Making Sense of Post COVID-19 Politics (2020), Pakistan–Afghanistan Relations: Pitfalls and Way Forward (2021), and Collected Works of Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (2023). In addition to her books, she has published more than 40 research papers and book chapters in national and international journals, covering topics such as geopolitics, Pakistan’s foreign policy, regional security, and peace studies.
Alongside her academic work, Dr. Baqai is an active public speaker and commentator. She frequently appears on television, speaks at conferences, and participates in policy discussions to share her analysis on international affairs, making her a well-respected voice in academic and policy circles alike.
